This weekend, the 21st and 22nd of November was the Clydesdale Colts Rollathon in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. We chose this charity as we have a rider, Cameron, in the club who is a CF sufferer.
The Rollathon has been a great success, to date raising over £2300, you can still donate online by clicking here or contacting anyone in the club.
There were 24, 1 hour rollers sessions over the duration of the Rollathon, with Colts, coaches and parents coming into the Royal Albert club hut to do their stint. The hut was kitted in fantastic comfort with a couple of sofa's and a roaring fire. We had Colts of all ages in, for some, this was their first time on rollers, all of them did a fantastic job. Every Colt and adult coming into the hut adding to the spirit that makes the Colts such a fantastic club.
We had mostly younger riders in the earlier stages of the day, quite rightly so, as a good few of them were off to race in the cyclocross at Lochore Meadows on the Sunday (well done you lot, you are hardcore!)
As the night drew in, the older Colts and more parent helpers descended on the hut to get their roller hours in, the hut stayed well occupied during the night. We had plenty of banter, music and rolling throughout the night, and some folk going home with distinctly less leg hair than they arrived with. A special mention needs to go to Alan and Celia for a heroic effort being at the hut for pretty much the entirety of the Rollathon.
The club needs to thank the huge efforts of the the Colts and their parents for helping making this weekend work, we are all hugely proud of the Colts and what we can all achieve as a club, be it a club night, a race day or charity event such as this weekend.
Roll on the next one, well done everyone.
